Clearing the Path: Your 7-Step Guide to University Clearing Success!
There are many reasons to go through Clearing. Perhaps you’ve chosen to decline your offers, or you missed out on your grades. No matter, Clearing has many options for you. Read our top tips for mastering the Clearing process below.
1. Research and Preparation:
Prior to Clearing, research universities and courses that may have vacancies. Look for subjects or institutions that align with your interests and career goals. Make a list of alternative options as a backup plan.
Note: UCAS have a Clearing tool to help you find your perfect course. It tells you what UCAS know about the types of students universities are looking for and suggest some courses you might like. A university/student matchmaker if you like.

2. Check UCAS and University Websites:
On A-level results day, check the UCAS website and university websites for lists of courses with available spaces. Universities often update their Clearing vacancies in real-time, so stay proactive and keep an eye out for opportunities.
3. Contact Universities:
Once you've identified potential courses, contact the universities directly to enquire about Clearing vacancies. Prepare a list of questions regarding the course, entry requirements, and any additional information you need to provide.

4. Have Necessary Information Ready:

5. Clearing Hotline:
Many universities operate Clearing hotlines to assist students during the process. Be prepared to make phone calls and have a conversation with admissions staff. Clearly explain your circumstances, qualifications, and reasons for wanting to study a particular course.
6. Be Flexible and Open-Minded:
During Clearing, you may need to consider alternative courses or institutions that weren't originally part of your plan. Be open-minded and consider the available options based on your interests, career aspirations, and entry requirements.
