Raising minimum age of criminal responsibility in NI

At 10, the age of criminal responsibility in NI is one of the lowest in Europe. Criminologists and children’s rights experts have consistently presented evidence that 10 is too young. The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child recommend a minimum age of at least 14. For the last decade, the Centre for Children’s Rights, in partnership with the Children’s Law Centre, Include Youth, NIACRO and VOYPIC have been calling on government to enact their international obligations to #raisetheage.
