Queen’s Summer Scheme celebrates 20th Anniversary

For 20 years, Queen’s Sport has opened its doors to young people across Northern Ireland to take part in their annual summer scheme.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the summer scheme, Queen’s Sport will celebrate with a week of sport, activity and challenges for all children starting Monday 8 August.

Kevin Murray, Sport Development Officer at Queen’s, said: “This is an important milestone to celebrate and we really look forward to another 20 years for this successful programme.

“At Queen’s Sport we aim to offer high quality opportunities for young people to take part in sport regardless of their ability and we are now regarded as one of the best summer scheme’s in Northern Ireland.

“This programme also offers the wider community with the opportunity to experience world-class sporting facilities right on their doorstep.”

Conor Curran, Equality and Diversity Business Partner at Queen’s, said: “The Queen’s Summer Scheme has for 20 years provided children, of different levels of physical ability and from all sorts of backgrounds, the opportunity to participate in a fantastic programme of structured activity. It also provides parents or carers with much needed daytime support over the summer months and whether they work in Queen’s or not,  mums and dads know that their kids, while at the PEC, will receive fantastic care in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. For these reasons and for many more, we hope that we will be able to continue supporting this excellent scheme.”
