Ryan Feeney appointed Director of Public Engagement

Queen's University Belfast is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Feeney as Director of Public Engagement.

Ryan is currently Director of Strategic Communication and Engagement at the Police Service of Northern Ireland, where he is responsible for the Strategic Communications, Civic and Political Engagement and Digital and Creative functions of the Service and is a member of the Service Executive Team.
 
He was previously the Head of Public Engagement here at Queen’s University and, prior to that, Head of Community, Strategy and Public Affairs at Ulster GAA. He also served as an independent member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board from 2011-2018, where he was the lead member for Human Rights and Professional Standards and the Vice Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.
 
He is a graduate of Education with Business Studies and History from St. Mary’s University College, and has a Master’s Degree (MA) in Irish History and Politics from Ulster University and an LLM in Governance and Public Policy from Queen’s University Belfast. He is currently undertaking a Doctorate of Governance at the Institute of Public Administration, National University of Ireland.
 
President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Greer said:
 

"I am delighted that Ryan is joining the University to take on this important leadership role. Public engagement is an important component of our work, and is fundamental to our new strategy. I look forward to welcoming him and to working closely with him over the years ahead."

Commenting on his appointment, Ryan said:

“I am privileged to be returning to Queen’s at this exciting time for the University. Queen’s is an anchor institution for Northern Ireland, making a significant socioeconomic contribution to the region and its people through the efforts of the University’s students and staff. I look forward to joining the outstanding Queen’s team to contribute to the implementation of the new University Strategy 2030.”
