New senior appointments

Queen's President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Ian Greer, is pleased to announce four new senior appointments:

Director of Strategy

Sarah McKegney - Director of Strategy Sarah McKegney has been appointed to the newly created post of Director of Strategy.

Sarah graduated from Queen's with a First-Class Honours degree in Accounting and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in Belfast. She has worked internationally, with roles in London, Washington, D.C. and within the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Sydney. On her return to Belfast, Sarah joined Progressive Building Society in 2016, where she has held a number of senior positions including Business Strategy Manager, Head of Digital and most recently Head of Operations.

Sarah brings extensive experience in strategy development and execution, programme management and business transformation.

She will join Queen’s in early May.
 

Director of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility

Alistair Stewart - Director of Civic Engagement and Social ResponsibilityAlistair Stewart has been appointed as Director of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility. He has been acting in the role for the past year and takes up post effective immediately.

Alistair is a former civil servant, having worked as an official and advisor in the Private Office of the Minister for Employment and Learning. He later worked as a researcher focused on shared education in the School of Education at Queen’s before being appointed Public Affairs Manager and later Head of Public Engagement at Queen’s.
 

Director of Digital and Information Services

Greg McCloskey - Director of Digital and Information ServicesGreg McCloskey has been appointed as Director of Digital and Information Services.

Bringing with him over 25 years' experience leading technology and organisational change initiatives, Greg has been Head of IT Service Management at Allen & Overy since 2019. He previously worked for BSO and was responsible for the strategic implementation of Finance and HR Shared Services in HSCNI.

With extensive management, technical and operational experience gained within the UK and overseas at companies such as PwC, Nortel and Mubadala, Greg has successfully implemented IT infrastructure improvements and streamlined operating models to drive efficiency. His expertise lies in aligning IT strategies with organisational goals, ensuring a secure and scalable technology environment.

He will take up post at the end of May.
 

Director of Marketing, International Partnerships and Student Recruitment

Jamie Armstrong - Director of Marketing, International Partnerships and Student RecruitmentJamie Armstrong has been appointed as the new Director of Marketing, International Partnerships and Student Recruitment at Queen’s.

Jamie brings over fifteen years’ experience in Higher Education Marketing and Student Recruitment leadership roles, having previously been Head of Strategic Marketing and Communications at Queen’s and, most recently, worked with a number of other Russell Group universities on brand and marketing projects in a consultancy capacity.

Jamie took up post this week.
