Dr. Chen-En (Ted) Ho has published in various subfields of Translation and Interpreting Studies, including cognitive interpreting studies, translation and interpreting industry, translation and interpreting pedagogy, and public service interpreting. His research interests now focus on two major strands, including cognitive interpreting studies, primarily investigating sight interpreting/translation using an eye-tracker, and T&I education, particularly on autonomous learning and using the concept of gamification and targeted feedback to improve learning experience and outcome.
More recent research effort expands to identifying reading processes during sight interpreting/translation using cluster analysis and investigating the potential of AI-assisted interpreting based on reading processes and patterns. Another strand leans towards AI-assisted interpreter education, including designing virtual settings for simulated interpreting practices and teaching students to prepare for professional interpreting tasks using AI.
