The 'Introduction to British Sign Language' Programme provides students with a unique and valuable insight into the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people.

Through a series of formal teaching classes and practice sessions that will be led by a qualified BSL tutors, students will be able to acknowledge deaf and hard of hearing people, their language and methods of communication. The programme is also tailored to allow students to recognise the barriers between deaf and hard of hearing people and how to overcome them.

This achieved by gaining a basic understanding of sign language and a series of workshops on deaf awareness. By the end of the programme, students should be able to use their new language skills in a practical manner and to have a basic conversation with a deaf person in sign language.
