Interviews usually take place the last Friday of the month around lunchtime and are co-organised by the PDC and local postdoc reps and committees from all the MHLS Faculty's Schools and Centres, to ensure relevance to all. They take place via MS Teams and involve set questions asked by the chair and time for attendees to ask additional questions via the chat. While guests are usually chosen to have a PhD background, all staff and students are welcome.

The April 2021 interview is organised by Niall Byrne and Suha Dadou, postdocs in the School of Pharmacy and members of the Postdoc Society. It will feature Dr Paul McCague, Senior Lecturer (Education) in the School, and Dr Maria Malamatari, Pharmaceutical Assessor at the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Paul graduated with a Master of Pharmacy in 2008, subsequently completing his PhD in clinical pharmacy at QUB, following pre-registration training. He has previously held lectureships in the School of Pharmacy at University College Cork and Liverpool John Moores University before returning to QUB in 2015 to further pursue his interest in pharmacy education as a Senior Lecturer (Education).

In addition to her role of Pharmaceutical Assessor at the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Maria holds the position of a Collaborating academic staff at Frederick University, Cyprus. She graduated with a Master of Pharmacy from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at Greece and obtained a PhD on pulmonary drug delivery from UCL. Prior to her current appointments, Maria worked as a Postdoc Research Associate at the University of Greenwich with a research focus on pharmaceutical cocrystallisation processes.

Registered participants will be sent a Teams link closer to the date but should hold the time in their calendar right away.

Attendees will be able to ask questions using the MS Teams chat.

If the quality of the sound allows it and the guests agree, the conversation could later be made accessible as a podcast (but cannot be guaranteed).
