Interviews usually take place the last Friday of the month around lunchtime and are co-organised by the PDC and local postdoc reps and committees from all the MHLS Faculty's Schools and Centres, to ensure relevance to all. They take place via MS Teams and involve set questions asked by the chair and time for attendees to ask additional questions via the chat. While guests are usually chosen to have a PhD background, all staff and students are welcome.

The June 2021 interview is organised by Claire Tonry, postdoc in the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine. It will feature Dr Vijay Tiwari, Reader in the Centre, and Dr Manu Gupta, NGS Field applications scientist at Roche Diagnostics and Clinical Diagnostic Consultant at Eli Lilly and Company.

Manu studied Pharmacy and Pharmacology at Panjab University in India, before taking on a PhD in molecular immunogenetics in the Karolinska Institutet, working on markers of autoimmune diabetes. After a few postdoc positions accross Europe and the UK, Manu took a sabbatical to pursue Clinical Pathology Accreditation in an NHS lab and provided consulting services related to diagnostics, including via a company he founded. He now works for Roche as NGS Field applications scientist.

Registered participants will be sent a Teams link closer to the date but should hold the time in their calendar right away.

Attendees will be able to ask questions using the MS Teams chat.

If the quality of the sound allows it and the guests agree, the conversation could later be made accessible as a podcast (but cannot be guaranteed).
