This major international conference will see over 3000 archaeologists from across the world visit our campus and city, with 400 more participating online.

The European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) annual conference is taking place at Queen’s University Belfast from 30 August to 2 September 2023 in collaboration with Visit Belfast, Tourism NI and a range of heritage stakeholders from across the island. The event has an estimated economic impact of £3.4 million on the local economy.
Approximately 60 academic sessions will run each day and many of the buildings in the vicinity of the Lanyon Building will be involved. The European Archaeology Fair will take place in the Whitla Hall, while the ongoing Festival of Archaeology will continue in the South Dining Hall for the duration of the conference.
