We are delighted to welcome to Queen’s Tiffany Thompson, a PhD student in Irish Studies at Boston College, where she is working with Prof Rob Savage on a dissertation considering women and youth in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.
Her research project addresses the dislocation of working-class Belfast families as a result of the street violence and riots that characterized the early years of the Troubles (1969-1975). As families fled the urban center of the North, many sought refuge in the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, and beyond. This research seeks to uncover a story primarily about women and children and their experiences of violence at the hands of police and paramilitaries.
This in-person event is an opportunity for postgrads and staff at QUB interested in Tiffany’s research to meet her and hear and discuss a short presentation on her current research.
We will provide refreshments and sandwiches, so please email us to register at the link below for catering purposes (and let us know any dietary requirements): irish.studies@qub.ac.uk
