Global Talent Fund

Queen’s University Belfast is proud to be one of just 12 UK institutions selected to receive UKRI’s Global Talent Fund as part of a £54 million national investment to attract outstanding international researchers and teams.

We are launching a global search for a select cohort of international research leaders across strategic areas that reflect Queen’s core strengths and the UK’s Industrial Strategy.

 

We welcome applications in, and at the intersections of:

Life Sciences:

  • Translational Drug Development
  • Drug Discovery

These appointments will deepen collaboration between academia, industry and the health system, linking to the Future Medicines Institute and the forthcoming iREACH-Health clinical research facility, to accelerate innovation and deliver economic and societal impact across the UK.

Engineering & Physical Sciences:

  • Wireless Communications
  • Photonics and advanced functional materials
  • AI
  • Cyber Security

Successful applicants will strengthen our role as a driving academic force behind two of the Belfast Region City Deal innovation centres: the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) and Momentum One Zero (M1.0), working closely with regional and global industry partners.

It works where industry and research meet, providing the platform to spin out research into commercial opportunities and engage with industry on cutting-edge research with real-world projects such as the work with Wrightbus to produce the cleanest hybrid bus technology that powers the London Routemaster, or the pioneering work in The Institute of Electronics, Communications and Information Technology, securing our digital future through their Centre for Secure Information Technologies.

The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC), led by Queen's University Belfast, is key to an exciting future for manufacturing in Northern Ireland, as an industry-led, open-access manufacturing and engineering innovation centre with state-of-the-art facilities and an expert engineering team, underpinned by academic excellence.

Powering One Health

The faculty's work centers on tackling major global issues related to health, food security, and environmental sustainability. It comprises several schools, including the School of Biological Sciences, School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Biomedical Sciences, School of Nursing and Midwifery, and School of Pharmacy. The faculty is actively involved in world-leading research across various disciplines, leading to new treatments for patients and improved protection of food sources. The faculty emphasizes the importance of global health and aims to drive science-led solutions and positive change in the global landscape, according to the faculty website.
