Becoming a global citizen during your study enhances your skills, broadens your horizons and allows you to immerse yourself in culture, ideas and knowledge from industries you want to work in. Our awards support students studying in Arts, Humanities and Social Science planning to undertake skill development activities around the world.
Domestic activities in UK/ROI can be supported by our 'Boost Your Skills Award.'
Please note that students are responsible for researching visa requirements and obtaining the correct visa of their intended host country. QUB cannot provide advice on visa matters.

BOOST YOUR SKILLS
Apply for £250 to support your local skills development in 2024-25.
Taking local opportunities to expand your learning outside of the classroom is essential during study. The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences have opened a new round of awards for students undertaking domestic placements, skill development programmes, attending workshops or conferences or completing short courses during their degree. These should be completed in NI/UK/IRELAND only. This award is available to current QUB students studying within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Awards of £250 may be made to support you taking part in an activity inside of NI/UK/IRELAND. The activity must add value to your degree, enhance your skills and be relevant to your chosen career. Application necessary, awards are subject to funding availability, terms and conditions apply.
BOOST YOUR SKILLS AWARD
The award allowed me, as an international student hoping to continue to live and work on the island of Ireland, to fully immerse myself in the cross-community organising landscape in Northern Ireland.
Hope Stoner, MA in Global Security and Borders, who interned with the OUR Generation project at Cooperation Ireland which aims to “promote positive mental health/build emotional resilience of children and young people” in the five Urban Villages and Irish border region (Co-Operation Ireland, 2022).
