Personal and Public Involvement

ABOUT PERSONAL AND PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT

Personal and Public Involvement (PPI) stream offers a framework and guiding principles for FMHLS Involvement activities; aligning to and supporting existing charities, support networks, the Patient Client Council and those with invaluable embodied knowledge and lived experience.

A training workshop with the aim of building research partnerships has been developed by the Public Health Agency’s HSC R&D Division and the Northern Ireland Cancer Trials Centre in collaboration with Macmillan Cancer Support.

The purpose of the training is to bring together researchers, health professionals, service users, carers and members of the public to help improve partnership working in the area of Personal and Public Involvement (PPI) in research.

Northern Ireland is the first area in the UK to train service users to deliver this type of workshop and it is hoped that many more workshops will be organised to help build capacity into PPI within HSC research in Northern Ireland.

Faculty Engagement facilitated participation in InvolveFest, the inaugural week-long festival which celebrated the important contribution of PPI in shaping and improving Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland.
  • PPI NETWORK
The PPI Network Hub recognises the breadth of excellent PPI across the university; as a PPI Champion, Faculty Engagement supports and encourages colleagues at School and Faculty and/or School level to establish PPI communities of practice and bring together researchers and external partners to advise on mechanisms for developing more sustainable and mutually beneficial research relationships.
