Ireland Healthcare Scholarship Program

This Regional Scholarship Program is funded by the not-for-profit United Health Foundation established by UnitedHealth Group (UHG).

Optum Ireland is part of UnitedHealth Group (UHG) and the program is delivered by Optum Ireland in partnership with Queen’s, NUI Galway and Ulster University.

The program aims to invest in a 21st century health workforce that meets the needs of tomorrow and promotes diversity in higher education by supporting young people from Donegal who come from less advantaged and non-traditional backgrounds.

The Regional Scholarship Program provides a dedicated scholarship to Queen’s to the value of €25,000 for the term of the undergraduate course.

  • Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria and have applied for one of the designated undergraduate courses. The courses and the criteria can be viewed on page 4 of the Scholarship Booklet.
  • Application forms and Reference templates can be downloaded and completed.
  • Copies or photographs of the forms must be sent to nodlaig.brolly@optum.com before 5pm on Friday, 19 April 2024.
  • The fund is administered by Queen’s and given to the recipient on an annual basis subject to the scholar being in good academic standing and fulfilling the relevant terms and conditions.
