Inspire the greatest minds and invest in world-class research
The Queen’s Foundation is a registered charity (NIC 102044) and a member of Will to Give, a group of Northern Ireland charities, whose aim is to promote the impact of gifts in wills to support local causes. We have teamed up with Bequeathed, an online Will writing service, so you can write or update your Will from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Creating a will should be easy and convenient, at any age. We want to make it as easy as possible to leave your legacy gift. Bequeathed is an online tool that allows you to create a will, for free, and works with over 90 charities throughout Northern Ireland, England, and Wales. An expert will be on hand to answer any of your questions, and your will will be checked by a team of certified solicitors.

Legacies fund local, life-changing research, seeking to overcome some of the major health problems of our time, including cancer, diabetes, cognitive impairment and Multiple Sclerosis. This research is used to help improve outcomes and quality of life for patients in Northern Ireland and beyond. Together with lifetime donations, gifts in wills also help us to award over £6 million annually in scholarships and bursaries to ensure that young people with talent can come to Queen’s, regardless of their background, and benefit from the life-changing opportunities that a world-class education provides. We understand that the causes which are closest to your heart are often personal, which is why you can choose to fund the area of research or education which means the most to you.

Read about the reasons some of our supporters, like Caroline, have chosen to leave a legacy gift to Queen’s: ...“to ensure funds are available to support MS research at the University in the future. I am proud to be associated with the team; helping, in my own way, to ensure research continues until a treatment is found. I also take confidence from the fact that I know any monies raised or gifted will be spent here in Northern Ireland, for the benefit of MS sufferers worldwide.”

Graduate, Alexander Leckey, left an unrestricted legacy gift to Queen’s in 2020. His gift has allowed a team of researchers at Queen’s to initiate leading research to address how COVID-19 affects children. The ‘Rapid-19’ project is tracking children and their response to the virus. Using blood, saliva and nasal swab samples, researchers will determine whether a child has had the virus without symptoms or whether they have an active infection, before tracking inflammation and response to the virus. The team are currently tracking 500 children in NI. This essential research could determine if children are being infected at a similar rate as adults, how many have been infected already and how many have potential immunity.
