Programme Specific Regulations

This programme is open to pharmacists who have completed the NICPLD Foundation Programme, which is equivalent to 60 credits.

Alternatively, credit will be awarded to pharmacists who have sufficient relevant accredited prior certificated or experiential learning (APCL/APEL), as judged by the School’s APL panel.

On completion of the PG Diploma stage (60 credits), students can exit with a PG Diploma or may continue to the MSc stage.

Educational Aims Of Programme

On successful completion of the programme, the student will be able to:

Register as Independent Prescribers with the Pharmaceutical Society of NI or the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Manage the drug treatment of patients in four key therapeutic areas: diabetes and common respiratory, cardiovascular and infectious diseases.
Demonstrate ‘Excellence’ standard based on the competencies defined in the Advanced and Consultant Level Framework (ACLF) clusters ‘Expert Professional Practice’ and ‘Building Working Relationships’.
