Students will be offered a third attempt to pass modules from semester one and two, where the following criteria is met: • Module mark between 40-49 • A maximum of 30 CATS not passed on second attempt • Overall average for all taught modules above 50

Learning Outcomes: Cognitive Skills

On the completion of this course successful students will be able to:

Teaching/Learning Methods and Strategies

•Cognitive skills are developed across the modules within the degree programme. Students develop skills in problem solving, logical reasoning and critical thinking. Independent enquiry, critical evaluation and interpretation, abstraction and assimilation are key elements within the programme. Self-assessment, peer review and reflection are developed within the group work assignments.
•Case study discussions, role plays, scenario planning and other interactive style teaching and learning approaches will be leveraged to foster cognitive skills.

Methods of Assessment

•Assessment of cognitive skills occurs in the form of group presentations, business plans, case studies, simulations and projects.

Teaching/Learning Methods and Strategies

•The MSc in International Business follows a structured curriculum based upon modules which focus on the global business environment, global human resource management (HRM), marketing in the digital age, global innovation management, doing business in emerging markets, analytics with artificial intelligence (AI), making ethical business decisions, developing career and employability skills and international business capstone.
•Understanding managers/firms and their global environment are integral in all the teaching and learning opportunities.
•Acquisition of knowledge and understanding is through structured exposition based on lectures, directed reading of case studies and academic journals which are particularly applied to student presentations and group projects, computer-based laboratory work, group work, and private study.
•The international dimension to various issues is immersed in modules throughout the course, and concerns around ethics, responsibility and sustainability are embedded when discussing topics.

Methods of Assessment

•A combination of assessment methods is used to enhance knowledge and understanding including weekly workshops with related assessed work; poster presentations, case studies, podcasts, portfolios, reports, simulations, and projects.
•International Business Capstone allows students to combine their holistic learning across modules and integrate these to the context of international business. The individual project will also allow students specific opportunities to develop and demonstrate professional, ethical and social responsibilities, in tandem with knowledge and understanding, in a workplace setting. It represents an independently led piece of major research that is applied in nature.

On the completion of this course successful students will be able to:

1.Analyse the cross-border strategies, forms and structures of firms, as well as the decision-making processes, practices and activities of global leaders, evaluating how these are influenced by interdependencies with stakeholders across multiple contexts (S1)
2.Critically apply leading-edge international business theories, frameworks and techniques to generate innovative firm solutions for tackling grand challenges and globally disruptive megatrends (S2)
3.Be academically prepared by developing a deep and systematic understanding of leading-edge research and scholarship on international business in a fragmented world (S3)

Teaching/Learning Methods and Strategies

•International Business requires a range of interdisciplinary skills and knowledge. These are provided through the delivery of modules that recognise both the skills the students wish to develop and those that they have acquired previously. Subject specific skills can provide a thorough basic grounding in areas that all international business professionals should know.
•Teaching is provided through lectures, workshops, directed reading, group work and computer-based work.
•Didactic style approaches will be used to provide knowledge on frameworks, techniques and tools from contemporary research.
•Flipped classroom techniques will be employed to ensure practical understanding of academic research.

Methods of Assessment

•The assessment method is formative, continuous and summative, involving continuous assessment in the form of individual and group projects, individual and group oral presentations, case study investigations, reports, computer software simulations, podcasts, portfolios, and projects.
•Formative assessments will be used to provide students with developmental feedback on subsequent assessments.

Teaching/Learning Methods and Strategies

•Transferable skills development will permeate the teaching and learning on the degree programme. Successful completion of coursework requires students to gather information from a range of sources, select and assimilate relevant information and to complete tasks within agreed deadlines that are shared well in advance. Students will participate in group discussions in class with scenario and role-based approaches enabling cross cultural learning.
•Socratic based methods will be employed to ensure student discussion, debate and critical reflection an engagement with important theories and their application.

Methods of Assessment

•Assessment of coursework requires students to use a range of media (e.g. essays, PowerPoint, Excel and other data presentation packages, presentations, project work) to demonstrate their learning. Completion of the final project develops skills in independent research enquiry, problem solving, data synthesis and analysis and presentation through a practice-based approach.
