EDUCATIONAL AIMS OF PROGRAMME

To provide a high quality education for students in dimensions of health, physical activity and sport, which provides opportunities for them to realise their potential to the highest possible extent within the timescale available to them for study;

To provide opportunities for a balanced and coherent education in health, physical activity and sport while retaining students' right to choose their modules flexibly according to their aptitudes and interests;

To develop students' knowledge and skills base in ways which, inter alia, will enhance their employment opportunities and enable them to make a valuable contribution to society.

Learning Outcomes: Cognitive Skills

On the completion of this course successful students will be able to:

Exercise analytical, critical and problem solving skills in the context of the theories within the discipline, employ methods of enquiry, evaluate applications and interventions;

Employed teaching and learning methods actively encourage students to develop their analytical and critical thinking skills. In year one there is a focus on creating a knowledge base in students with a progressive shift towards critical evaluation of sources in years two and three. Students are frequently required to review aspects of both practice and theory.
