Embedding Circular Economy Principles within Queen's

A student within the School of Natural and Built Environment undertook a living lab project as part of their undergraduate studies. They assessed an existing Queen’s building as part of a ‘material bank’, enabling them to identify opportunities for circular economy principles and reuse.
From this project Queen's Estates Directorate have taken learnings that will allow the University to reduce embodied carbon where a building can’t be retained. This enables materials high in carbon to be preserved for the next project.
