War seems ubiquitous. Despite marking 75 years since the creation of the Geneva Conventions, United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights established in the aftermath of the Second World War, war continues to cause millions of victims each year. Prof Luke Moffett in his inaugural lecture discusses the continuing challenge of law in mitigating and remedying armed conflict. He outlines his research at QUB since 2012 has tried to tackle justice for victims of international crimes, redress for irreparable harms of war, and the threat and potential of emerging technologies on the battlefield.
