We’re loved across campus and Belfast: we’re the largest single-campus Union in Ireland and are proud to say that 94% of current international students were satisfied with the Students’ Union in the International Student Barometer 2020/21.

YOUR NEW STUDENT CENTRE AND STUDENTS' UNION

The new Student Centre and Students’ Union has opened in September 2022, transforming the provision of student services and support offered, in one central, state-of-the-art facility.

With the changing needs of students in mind, this social and flexible space is the new heartbeat for campus life, helping you to make the most of your time at Queen's.

Providing a range of support services, opportunities to socialise and different activities to help you make friends and develop your skills throughout your time at Queen’s.

FROM REGISTRATION TO GRADUATION

Situated across from our historic Lanyon building, it has everything you’d expect, from bars and entertainment venues to student kitchen facilities. There are spaces to relax, shops, cafes and tech-friendly study and meeting areas.

With student wellbeing and advice, admin support, careers consultancy and development programmes, you’ll find everything you need to get you from registration to graduation.

Your University and Students’ Union will cater for the 25,000+ students to provide you with an amazing student experience from 2022 and beyond.

WE’RE LED BY STUDENTS

Each year, students are elected to become Student Officers. The team is here to help you, represent you, organise campaigns to make the changes you want and lead the Union on your behalf.

Five full-time Officers work alongside 12 part-time Volunteers. They are here to help you, represent you, organise campaigns to make the changes you want, and lead the Union on your behalf.

MEET NEW PEOPLE AND HAVE FUN

Make the most of your time at Queen’s by joining one of our 215 plus clubs and societies or join the 5,000 students who are involved in volunteering at Queen’s every year.

From community gardening to decorating animal shelters to planning events to tutoring and inspiring young people, Volunteer SU can match you with the perfect volunteering initiative.

Our subject-specific societies (covering everything from Architecture to Medicine) offer careers advice and placements, and business-focused societies such as Enactus and IELTS help you add value to your degree.

HOMEWORK CLUBS

Over 5,000 students have been involved in volunteering at Queen’s since 2012

Homework Clubs are one of the most popular volunteering initiatives for Queen’s students. We help inspire young people in some of the most educationally underachieving areas of Belfast to go to university through our tutoring.

Some of our achievements
  • Effectively campaigned for the removal of the lifetime MSM Blood Ban, which was subsequently lifted on 1 September 2016
  • Created an Accommodation Forum for students who did not secure a space in University accommodation to find safe housing
  • Secured £40,000 from the University to reverse cuts to student counselling

The new Students’ Union is a vibrant social hub with the newly revamped Mandela Hall and Union Bar. Open 7 days a week the Union Bar - let's call it your local - has an outdoor terrace, great food, pool tables, quizzes, and music.

Advice SU provides students with free, independent, confidential and non-judgemental advice.
