In this talk, Dr. Aguiar will explore how archives can become vibrant, living spaces through community collaboration and creative volunteering. By highlighting inclusive practices and participatory projects, she will demonstrate how people of all ages and backgrounds can play an active role in preserving, interpreting, and reimagining history.
Dr. Laura Aguiar is a Lecturer in Cinematic Arts at Ulster University and a multimedia content producer based in Northern Ireland. Her practice-based research focuses on participatory filmmaking, archive-driven storytelling, and community-engaged media and she has published widely on these subjects. Dr. Aguiar is also the co-founder and co-director of the Rathmullan Film Festival. She holds a BA in Journalism from FUMEC University, an MA in Media and Communication from Stockholm University, and a PhD in Film Studies from Queen’s University Belfast.
