Sean Field is an internationally recognised oral historian. His path breaking research has examined topics such as Apartheid memories, the politics of memory in transitional states, trauma and family histories, and African refugees in South Africa. He is the author of numerous books and articles including Oral History, Community and Displacement: Imagining memories in Post-Apartheid South Africa (2012).

In this intriguing paper, Dr Field will offer reflections on memory-work in post-Apartheid South Africa. The paper will pivot around the context of exploring memory in a country defined by Thomas Pickety and the World Bank as the most most unequal nation in the world.
