Queen’s University Belfast celebrated the achievements of the first cohort of Technician Apprentices on Wednesday 20th August.
On Wednesday 20th August 2025, colleagues from across Directorates, Faculties and Schools at Queen's, celebrated the success of our first cohort of Technician Apprentice Programme.
Professor Alan Stitt, Dean of Innovation and Impact - MHLS, opened the event by welcoming colleagues, friends and family to Queen’s. This was followed by an introduction to the Technician Commitment by Gillian Riddell, Technician Commitment Manager at Queen's who reflected on the journey of the first cohort of apprentices, acknowledging their dedication and resilience throughout the programme.
Barry McKinney, User Support Services Manager, congratulated the seven IT apprentices from Digital and Information Services, who successfully completed their initial apprenticeships and are now progressing to Higher Level Apprenticeships.
We congratulate all apprentices on this significant achievement. Their success also reflects the guidance and encouragement of mentors, managers, supervisors, colleagues, friends and family, whose support has been invaluable.
Queen's technician apprenticeships help to develop skills, gain a recognised industry qualification and work in some of the most advanced workshops/labs in Northern Ireland.
As these talented technicians progress in their career, we wish them every success in their future at Queen’s and look forward to seeing them thrive as part of our growing technical community.
