Summer Refurbishment Works

A number of rooms are prioritised for upgrade during summer 2012. The works vary in scope from new furniture and AV to major refurbishment and will continue to ensure a minimum standard across all teaching rooms.

The works consist of:

Rooms Moving to Central Management

  • Enabling works to facilitate audio visual improvements, as part of the technical upgrade of these rooms over the period summer 2012 to summer 2014
  • New furniture, carpets, whiteboards, where required.

Other Rooms

 David Keir Building: LG115 and 01.028

  • Refurbishment of the existing benches with new upholstered seating
  • Replacement of floor finishes
  • Replacement of windows with new double glazed units and new blackout blinds.
  • Installation of a new suspended ceiling system
  • Replacement of the lighting installation including emergency lighting and fire alarm
  • Installation of a bespoke lectern housing new audio visual equipment
  • Replacement of black boards and screens with a glass panel system suitable for projection and writing. 

David Keir Building: Rooms 01.522, 0G512, 0G.530, 01.533, 03.517 and 03.532

  •  Works to improve the student experience, addressing issues of layout, flexibility (independent and group study space), audibility and visibility.

Bernard Crossland Building: Rooms 02 003, 0G 024, 0G 025, and 16 Malone Road 0G 003/004

  • Refurbishment to provide learning and teaching space that will support timetabled group study and independent project work.

MBC North and South Lecture Theatres 0G.008 and 0G.046

  • Refurbishment of the existing upholstered seating
  • Replacement of floor finishes
  • Replacement of wall finishes including profiled timber strip cladding.
  • Installation of a new suspended ceiling system (South LT)
  • Replacement of the lighting installation including emergency lighting (South LT)
  • Installation of a bespoke lectern

Peter Froggatt Teaching Centre

  • Concrete repairs to external cladding & sealing windows   
  • Refurbishment of toilets to upper floors          
  • Increased insulation to lower roof level

As part of the refurbishment, Media Services will be upgrading the AV equipment in a number of rooms.  Information about the rollout of AV equipment can be seen here.
