Social Development Support volunteers will be expected to play a role in children’s play and development. Support volunteers will engage in a buddy system, where they will be assigned to a child and work with that child for a defined period, developing a range of social and communication skills. The co-ordinator will liaise with the support volunteer to discuss this plan and offer guidance on activities that will help in delivering the child’s development. Support volunteers will be involved in activities that encourage children with ASD to interact and socialise together outside of the school environment whilst developing their skills, interests and creativity. Volunteers will work with our ASD children to help them increase self esteem, communication skills and tolerance of others. Volunteers will help the children increase their confidence in engaging in new activities.
