Workshops on child participation for The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation

Dr Michelle Templeton was invited to the OFQUAL national staff conference (March 2020) to provide expertise on enhancing children’s participation to directly inform and benefit the work of QFQUAL. During workshops, The Lundy Model of children’s rights-based participation was used as a frame for how to include children’s perspectives, and delegates explored the importance of including learners’ perspectives and some common myths and challenges around participation.
The organisers of the conference advised QUB, “I’ve heard only positive reflections on the session - that it was stimulating, challenging, interesting and relevant. It’s definitely instigated a desire in our people to consider and discuss these issues further - which is a great outcome!”
