Sydney Holt

Sydney studied History and English at University of Texas at Austin, focusing on Central and Eastern European History and Post-Modern Literature. She then completed her MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania where her final project looked at the South African Apartheid era and the following transition period.

Sydney is currently completing her Doctorate in Politics at Queens University Belfast where she is working on interviewing for her thesis, working title "Ethnicity, Identity, and the Census: EU Identity Categories and their Political and Social Effects on Roma Citizens in Southeast Europe". This is interested in the disconnect between personal identity and institutionally recognized Identity Categories, highlighted in data collected during decennial censuses, and the effects this difference can have on the EU-led initiatives for minority rights.
