MBRU Vacancies

The Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) is a valued partner of Queen’s University Belfast, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

MBRU’s aim is to become a global hub for innovative and integrated healthcare education and research at the service of humanity. Its mission is to advance health in the UAE and the region through an innovative and integrated academic health system, that is nationally responsive and globally connected, serving individuals and communities.

The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees through our three colleges, the Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine, the College of Medicine, and the College of Nursing and Midwifery.  Our Colleges are committed to educating healthcare professionals who embrace the principles of respect, integrity, innovation and advancement.

INTRODUCTION TO THE MBRU COLLEGES

The College of Medicine aims to provide integrated medical education and research, that is nationally responsive and globally connected, serving individuals and communities. The College of Medicine offers two programs, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MSBS).  Both are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education. Our MBBS is a six-year undergraduate program which offers something truly unique to our students through early clinical exposure from Year 1, research that takes place on the MBRU campus, and affiliations with local and international healthcare institutions. Our MSBS ensures that students develop the theoretical and practical skills required in the field of biomedical sciences, with a focus on research, genomics, and cellular biology.

The Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine aims to provide a nurturing environment for current and future leaders in dentistry through a contemporary and evolving curriculum centered in evidence-based patient care, critical thinking, and life-long learning. Our college is home to five full-time postgraduate dental programs (Endodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Periodontics), all of which are accredited by the Ministry of Education in the UAE, leading to eligibility for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) specialty membership examinations. Upon graduation, all our postgraduate dental students are recognized as specialists in the UAE. Our postgraduate dental students benefit from a unique curriculum and practice through Dubai Dental Hospital, our academic affiliate which is instituted to provide the highest standards of dental care for the community, and are also supported by world-leading learning resources such as Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center and the fully resourced Al Maktoum Medical Library.

The College of Nursing and Midwifery aims to provide a range of postgraduate courses of study alongside an integrated and aligned program of research and scholarly activities, that are in keeping with the ethos of the University to be nationally responsive and globally connected, serving individuals and communities.  Our one-year full time (two-year part time) MSc programs in Cardiovascular and Pediatric Nursing are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education and are purposely designed to engage with, support, and improve nursing practice in the UAE and the region. A key goal of the MSc programs is to ensure that students, as potential specialist nurse practitioners, will be enabled to deliver care and provide clinical skills across specialist areas of nursing and in agreed clinical settings.

RESEARCH AT MBRU

Biomedical Research Center

MBRU and the Al Jalila Foundation (AJF) work in conjunction to develop Biomedical Research in Dubai. This partnership has led to the establishment of the MBRU-Biomedical Research Center (MBRU-BRC), located within the AJF Building situated in close proximity to MBRU. This first-of-a-kind life sciences research center in Dubai dedicates more than 950 m² of floor space to various areas of biomedical research and is equipped with the latest research technology. The Center plays host to numerous researchers and postdoctoral fellows who have graduated from leading institutions from across the globe. This collaboration between MBRU and Al Jalila Foundation has so far led to significant scientific discoveries and landmark publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The Center for Genomic Discovery

The Center for Genomic Discovery is the first-of-its-kind in the UAE established with the goal of:

  • Diagnosing and treating UAE patients with genetic disorders
  • Enhancing local genomic research
  • Training the next generation of scientists in the UAE

The Center aims to bridge the knowledge gap in our understanding of genetics disease in the UAE by creating a scientific and clinical interdisciplinary ecosystem across multi-institutions in Dubai.

Further information on the work of the Center is available at https://www.mbru.ac.ae/research/the-center-for-genomic-discovery/
