Staff recognised at Students’ Union Education Awards

The Queen’s Students’ Union Education Awards recently recognised the work of individual members of teaching staff, students and schools.

Supported by the Queen’s Annual Fund, the Queen’s Students’ Union Education Awards celebrate academic excellence and reward staff, students and Schools for their contribution to assuring and enhancing the quality of education and the student experience at the University.

The event, which took place on 3 May 2016, was held in a packed Great Hall with 160 students, staff and alumni in attendance, including Professor David Jones, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, and Fergal McFerran, NUS President and the Keynote Speaker at the event,

There were a total of 183 nominations from students and staff across the University for 12 different award categories. The winners are as follows:


Teaching Staff Awards

Most Inspiring or Motivating:
Dr Stephen Kelly (School of English). Award presented by Caoimhe McNeill, Union President and Hannah Niblock, Student Officer Education

Personal Tutor of the Year:
Dr Nikki J. Marks (School of Biological Sciences) collected by Dr. Karen King. Award presented by Wilma Fee, Director of Academic and Student Affairs and Hannah Niblock, Student Officer Education

Best Feedback:
