Who is Responsible For My Career Development?

Your responsibility

You own your career development - it’s your responsibility to think about what you want in your career, and how you can make the most of what’s on offer to support you. It’s useful here to participate fully in your Personal Development Review (PDR) by preparing for conversations and accessing the support, resources and guidance available. Be open to and seek out new experiences and opportunities.

Your Line Manager’s responsibility

It’s a manager’s responsibility to support you to develop. If you are a manager, prepare fully for Personal Development Review (PDR) conversations with your team members by accessing the support, resources and guidance available. Encourage your team member by supporting appropriate and relevant development opportunities where required in line with your operational needs. Look out for where you can provide opportunities for work experiences and learning through others.
