The interpretation of astrophysical spectra emerging from ground and satellite facilities is underpinned by accurate atomic and molecular structure.
The resulting collisional calculations (excitation/ionisation/recombination/photoabsorption) can be incorporated into highly complex modelling codes to fully simulate the astrophysical environments. The R-matrix method developed at QUB allows us to take first principle calculations through to the interpretation of results from a wide variety of plasmas sources.
