Solar Physics

Our solar physics research focuses on the generation, evolution, and dissipation of magnetic energy in the Sun’s outer atmosphere.

Science investigations include high-resolution observations and state-of-the-art theoretical simulations of the quiet and active Sun, to disentangle the physical processes at work, and how they relate to the dynamic phenomena that we observe. We also have a strong interest in instrumentation, and led the development of the cameras for the Daniel K Inouye Solar Telescope.
