EDUCATIONAL AIMS OF PROGRAMME
The international PGCE programme aims to enable students to develop the understanding, abilities and competencies needed to teach in international schools. It helps students to develop a sound knowledge and understanding of current thinking in their chosen specialist area and ensures that international initial teacher education is rooted in theory, research and practice. Those completing this pathway will demonstrate both their ability in the classroom and their ability to critically reflect on their own classroom practice and current theories around teaching and learning.
• To enable students to achieve high standards of professional learning through developing critical reflection, inquiry and collaboration.
• To develop pedagogical expertise alongside content and curriculum knowledge and the ability to apply these in international classrooms
• To understand and develop core competencies in relation to classroom and school issues (such as assessment, curriculum, TESOL and classroom management)
• To cultivate core values and professionalism towards colleagues, peers, students, parents and school management to respect the needs of individuals and respond to individual learning needs effectively.
