International Advisory Board
The International Advisory Board under the direction of Ms Sue Douthwaite, SME Director at CYBG, advises the Dean and Head of School for the Queen’s Management School on the strategic management of QMS. The Board also supports the School in increasing its societal and economic impact through education and research. Through education, the Board provides an employer perspective on future graduate skills, facilitates access to work-based learning opportunities for students, and provides direct input into degree programmes. Through research, the Board identifies issues of concern to business, public and third sector organisations, and assists in the conduct and dissemination of research results including engagement with communities of practice.
Accreditation
The School is committed to pursuing ‘triple crown’ accreditation and was awarded the prestigious and internationally recognised EQUIS accreditation in 2021.
Accredited degree programmes offer students and employers a mark of assurance that the degree programme meets the standards defined and set by the relevant profession. Accredited degree programmes help make students aware that such professional recognition is available to them and provide them with their first steps towards gaining professional recognition, which will help them to progress in their careers. Many professional bodies offer examination exemptions from their professional qualifications to students who have studied accredited degree programmes. This ensures students can start their studies at a level that is consistent with the knowledge and skills gained from their degree programme.
Gender Equality - Athena Swan Charter
Queen's Management School (QMS) Gender Equality Initiative joins the efforts by the University’s Diversity and Inclusion Unit to ensure equality of opportunity and respect for diversity across the institution and its wider community. We are here to actively enhance gender equality at the Management School. Our work includes hosting and facilitating conversations on gender issues in academia, drawing attention to senior female role models, organising gender awareness activities, and ensuring our School processes actively promote gender equality to staff members and students.
In May 2020, Queen’s Management School was awarded a Bronze Athena SWAN Charter Mark in recognition of our efforts to eliminate gender bias and develop and inclusive culture that values all staff.
Education & Research
The core purpose of research at the Management School is to deepen understanding of how markets, business organizations and social institutions work and evolve over time and to distil lessons for policy and practice. We do this by interpreting unfolding patterns of economic, business and social life in a manner that fosters new theories and ideas, engages in empirical research that is grounded in current practices, and develops practical recommendations for public policy as well as for institutional and organizational innovations.
Undergraduate
The School provides a high quality learning environment with innovative teaching practice and great student support enabling our students to achieve their full potential. Our lecturers are experts in their fields and their teaching is ahead of the curve, research-led and shaped by the needs of industry.
Postgraduate Taught
Queen’s Management School is one of the largest in the University and has approximately 450 postgraduate taught students. The quality of teaching students receive within the School is high and all of our academic staff are engaged in research at an international level. This year we are launching our new Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programme. This programme will give skills for leadership in a demanding global business environment. For both professionals with relevant work and management experience, this promises to be the beginning of a challenging and exciting journey.
Postgraduate Research
The School’s Doctoral Programme is set up as a journey to the boundaries of knowledge in Accounting, Economics, Finance and Management preparing students to cross these boundaries and contribute to the process of scientific knowledge creation.
We will support you in this process with a faculty of leading scholars and a network of international partnerships with other top-ranked universities. This means that you will have access to a broad set of facilities and specialised courses, and you are able to build a global knowledge network with top scholars from around the world. This ensures you will receive unmatched support to maximise your chances of achieving excellence in your doctoral research.
The William J Clinton Leadership Institute
The William J Clinton Leadership Institute was founded in 2011 to support and develop the leadership skills of the Northern Ireland business community, as part of our commitment as a university to the pathway to peace.

Riddel Hall
Queen’s School of Management is located on the Riddel Hall site approximately 10 minutes' walk south of the main campus. The Grade B1 listed Riddel Hall provides a distinguished identity for the School with academic and support offices; postgraduate research rooms for students and research fellows; a range of fully equipped teaching facilities with varying capacities from small syndicate rooms to a 120- seat tiered lecture theatre; two computer suites; the Trading Room; the Placement Office; resource accommodation; flexible space for large group teaching and conference use; and communal support facilities including catering accommodation to encourage social and intellectual interaction. The building will soon be complemented through a £30 million building project adding 6,500m2 to the site. Due to open in 2022, this will dramatically increase the capacity for faculty and teaching, incorporate social and breakout space, and provide a bold, contemporary setting to complement the existing estate.
