QUB Annual Learning and Teaching Conference 2020
Registration now open

The Annual Learning and Teaching Conference will be held in the Ashby Building on 2 September 2020. This year’s theme is ‘Opportunities and Challenges of Internationalisation in Higher Education’ and will explore:

  • How Queen’s University Belfast is shaping change internationally in a higher education landscape.
  • How these changes are reflected in the international student experience at Queen’s.
  • How these changes can positively impact learning and teaching at Queen’s for all students.

QUB Teaching Awards 2020
Recognising excellent practice

Teaching Awards 2020 – Submission Date Extension

Given the current circumstances, it is not possible to keep to the original schedule for Teaching Awards 2020.  The Teaching Awards panel will be considering how we can run the Scheme this year, and information will be provided in due course, including a new submission date.

Colleagues who have already submitted may, if they wish, submit an updated application at that time.

Up to 10 Teaching Awards are available and a prize of £1000 will be awarded to each successful individual or team, paid into a dedicated School account for professional development purposes.

Advance HE - HEA Fellowship
Queen's Merit Award

The University has been accredited to award three HEA Fellowship levels: Associate Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. We encourage all eligible academic and professional staff to visit the QMA website and identify a suitable category of the HEA fellowship. The CED offer regular courses to support AFHEA and FHEA applicants and advice for staff interested in becoming Senior fellow.

Assessment, Learning and Teaching
Case Study Hubs

QUB staff are invited to submit case studies on Assessment, Learning and Teaching to contribute to Assessment and Learning and Teaching Hubs. The case study banks are a resource for all staff to see examples of varied and accessible engagement with students.

QUB Staff Excellence Awards 2020

Canvas Roll Out Team have been awarded the Staff Excellence Award for Innovation.

During the year, the Team implemented the critical Phase 3 stage of Canvas, the new VLE, which involved the rollout of over 2,012 modules to 3,380 staff and 23,939 students. The Team has created a model for managing institutional change which serves as an example to others. Their approach has focussed on being inclusive, collaborative and available. They have developed a number of innovative, engaging and effective ways of working, including developing a strong collaboration ethos underpinned by the introduction of supporting systems and practices. They have also delivered high staff engagement through adopting an innovative and agile approach to training and support for staff.
