School Promotional Activities

This is where it all begins: the Pathway Team contact schools and colleges all over Northern Ireland to invite students to attend live or pre-recorded Webinars.  Here, we will talk to you about the programme, its Pathways, the benefits and what the eligibility criteria means for applicants.

Applications open

The application system opens to all applying students online.

Application Deadline

The application closes.  Make a note of this date as late applications will not be accepted.

Early January 2024

Students notified of outcome

This is when you are notified of the success of your application. If you are accepted, you will find out if you have been accepted into your first or second Pathway preference.

This event is the exciting start of your journey on the Pathway Opportunity Programme.  At this event, you’ll meet your Pathway peers, some of your academics, discover all about the campus and facilities and listen to interesting talks about the programme, university and student life!

Online Subject Skills Session
(self-paced)

This session breaks down the key skills you will need for your specific chosen Pathways and gives you a chance to develop them to help maximise your potential when studying.

Academic Skills Session

Thursday 29th February 2024:

Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Mathematics & Physical Sciences and Psychology Pathways

This session is a chance to look at your key academic skills that can be transferred across multiple subjects and disciplines to help you develop your study techniques and beyond.

Tuesday 26th March 2024

Subject Specific Session

This session is an opportunity for you to meet and engage with your Pathway subject academics alongside your peers.  This will give you some insight into what lies ahead during your respective summer schools in July.

Tuesday 11th June 2024

University Information Session

This is your first taster of University Life – from Accommodation and Applications, to Well-being, Budgeting and what student life looks like including Clubs & Societies, Socialising and finding the balance of it all.

The Summer School is your chance to study like a student – for the
duration of the summer school you will study and attend lectures just like full time students.  At the end of the week, you submit your final assessment piece that is used to calculate the grade reduction awarded.

Next Steps Session

This event encourages you to look carefully at your next steps on your journey.  With UCAS on the horizon, this session provides you with added support and a chance to ask and questions on applications, university/course choices and important decisions surrounding accommodation and more!

Mini-Modular Interview training (for MDBS Pathway students only)
