Borrowing and Returning

General Borrowing

Library members can borrow books from any Queen's Library using their staff, student or library card or using the barcode function of the Queen's University mobile app (QUB staff and students only).

Books can be borrowed at self-service stations at Borrower Services Desks in all Libraries.

You can place a request if all copies of the book you require are on loan.

You may also borrow: laptops (see below), phone chargers, headphones, laptop mice (McClay Library), universal laptop chargers (Medical and Biomedical Libraries)

You will not be able to borrow or request other material if:

  • You don't have your library card or mobile app.
  • Your book is one day overdue
  • You have charges on your account of £5 or over

Use ‘My Account’ to manage your loans.

Returning Items

Items can be returned using the self-service returns station beside the Borrower Services Desk in The McClay Library or at the self-service issue/return station in the Biomedical & Medical Libraries.

You can also return books at the Borrower Services Desk in any Queen's Library.

There is an out of hours book returns box in the Medical Biology Centre

You may also return items by post. The Library will not take any responsibility for items lost in the post. Please also be aware of the due date when returning items in this way as you will not be able to borrow or request other material if it is late.
