If you are about to publish an interesting research paper, have reached a significant milestone in your research, or just have an interesting story to tell, please get in touch with the communications team within Strategic Marketing Communications (SMC). We will review and decide the best channel for distribution. There are a number of channels available to help with publicity including:
- Internal outlets such as the Staff Gateway and the weekly roundup to staff.
- Social media
- Queen’s website (Events, photos and news stories)
- A press release to the media for timely stories of interest to a general audience.
- A verbal pitch / feature to specific media
- An article for The Conversation
Press release
If you think your research has the potential for news coverage please complete a publicity request proforma to provide more detail about your story. If the story has a strong news angle, a Communications Officer will draft a press release to be approved by you and any relevant partners. We can offer media training where appropriate.
Once the press release has been issued, we will coordinate any interview requests from journalists who may wish to speak to you about your research in more detail. Therefore it is important that you (or a co-author) are available when the story is issued. However, we can never guarantee interest from the media as it will depend on the news agenda on the day.
We will then send you a report listing where the story has been published for your records.
