Northern Ireland (NI) has a new vision for the future. One driven by AI innovation. In alignment with the Department for Economy’s vision for the future, the AI Collaboration Centre (AICC) will promote widespread adoption of AI across all sectors. The AICC will fuel innovation and economic growth by focusing on enhancing digital sectors, promoting collaboration, and addressing skills gaps.

Through the collaboration centre, Queen’s University and Ulster University are offering a range of fully funded postgraduate places, that will equip graduates with the technical skills and creative drive necessary to achieve AI success in Northern Ireland.

Eligibility for Funding

To qualify for a fully funded place, you must meet the following requirements:

A limited number of fully funded places (provided by the Department for the Economy) are available for these programmes.  Where there are more eligible applicants than places available the academic selectors will make offers in rank order based on academic merit and potential as evidenced in the totality of the information provided within each application.  We will operate a waiting list as required to allow us to fill all available places. You will be notified as soon as possible after the deadline whether your application has been selected for a funded place. If you have not been selected for a funded place, we will accept self-funded or employer-funded applicants, if spaces are available. More details can be found in the timeline of events below.

To be eligible for a fully funded place under this programme you must:

  • Be over 18-years-old;
  • Resident in Northern Ireland;
  • Eligible to work in Northern Ireland;
  • ‘Settled’ in Northern Ireland, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years OR are a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK. 
  • Must meet the existing entry requirements for the course.
  • All applications will be ranked based on academic merit and experience.
  • Must make an application before the funded deadline of Friday, 14 June
  •  

Note: If you have already applied for one of the above courses but did not know about the funded places available, your original application will still be considered equally for a funded place. We will contact you if this applies to you.

 

Timeline of Events

  • March 2024

    Applications are now open for fully funded places.

    Please apply for the course as normal. If you meet the criteria you will be considered for a funded place - there's nothing extra you need to do.
    If you are eligible for funding and have applied to the course before March 2024, you will still be considered equally for a funded place.

  • March – 14th June

    Applications will be received during this timeframe.

    All eligible applicants will be placed on a waitlist until the closing date of 14 June.

     

  • 14th June 2024

    14th June - 12pm: The deadline to apply for a funded place is Friday 14 June at noon. After this date, applicants can still apply to the course if they wish to self-fund, if places are still available.

  • 14th – 21st June

    All eligible applications made during the fully funded application window, will be ranked.

  • 24th-28th June

    Applicants who applied during the funded application window and who meet the eligibility criteria will be notified if their application has been successful in receiving funding. Applicants will be given 10 working days to confirm their place as a fully funded student.

    Note: If there is still space on the course, eligible applicants who were unsuccessful in receiving a fully-funded place will be made an offer to self-fund.
