The adventure starts here
Keen to explore the world? Every year over 900 Queen's students take the opportunity to go outside Northern Ireland to study or gain work-related experience – why not be one of them? Some courses offer periods of study and work abroad as part of your degree. Fancy a taste of campus life in an exciting new country? Our study abroad programmes range in length from one week to one year. You can choose to spend a semester at a European or Australian university, a year in America or even three weeks in China.

Whether it’s gleaning industry knowledge inside the skyscraper offices of New York; tackling the policy makers in Capitol Hill or gaining hands-on work experience in global organisations in China, Europe and across the globe, our range of work abroad programmes will enrich your Queen’s experience and boost your CV. We have placements and internships to suit all disciplines.

We’ll keep you informed about the Global Opportunities available to you throughout the academic year through fairs, information sessions and talks.

Many of our students vlog or blog about their travel experiences. Search the tag Global Opportunities in our Careers blog to read their inspiring stories.

You can chat to a member of the Global Opportunities team about the travel options available to you. Normally drop-in appointments are available every Tuesday & Thursday, 12 - 1pm. We are currently offering these chats through virtual appointments via video call.

Travelling while at university can be a fantastic and life-changing experience. However, we are aware that the cost can be a barrier for many students. Some programmes provide funding or scholarships to help finance your trip.
