My Queen's Student Round Up September

Immigration Support Service

Visa questions keeping you up at night? Here's how Queen's immigration support can help you navigate the paperwork and requirements without the stress.

The Immigration Support Service (ISS) team at Queen’s are part of One Elmwood Student Services, and are the only staff in the University who can answer questions about your visa. We know that navigating visa and immigration requirements can feel overwhelming — but you’re not alone.

Whether you’re a new student or a returning student at Queen’s, this is a great time to check in on your visa and immigration status. We can provide specialist advice if you’ve renewed your visa, returned from a break, or just want to make sure everything’s ok.

Our immigration advice and services are carried out in accordance with the UKCISA Codes of Ethics, and we are authorised to provide immigration advice by the Immigration Advice Authority who regulate the provision of immigration advice in the UK.

Just Arrived? Here's What You Need to Do

If you’re an international student, we must carry out an Immigration Documentation Check (IDC) as part of your registration at Queen’s. To help you prepare for this, we've put together some useful tips below:

    • Familiarise yourself with the upload guidance on our IDC webpage
    • Wait until you have arrived in the UK before you complete your IDC, as you will need to upload evidence of your arrival
    • Upload a clear colour copy of your required documents, including your share code from gov.uk
    • Ensure your UK address and contact details are up to date
    • You can’t complete your registration or access university services until your IDC is approved. Prioritise this step to avoid disruptions

We’re here to help

You can meet us on the first floor in One Elmwood, Monday to Thursday, 2pm-3pm at our immigration drop-in service. Just make your way to the Student Information Point, no appointment necessary. Alternatively, you can always contact us by email at iss@qub.ac.uk.
