Careers, Employability and Skills at Queen’s are working in partnership with The British Chamber of Commerce in China to increase the employability prospects of Queen’s students in China.

The British Chamber of Commerce in China is a membership organisation for British business focused on boosting UK-China trade and investment. They operate as an independent, not-for-profit organisation with a strong and diverse membership, including Queen’s University Belfast. With over four decades’ worth of business experience in China, they provide advocacy, intelligence, and a strong community for our members, helping their business grow in one of the world’s fastest growing markets.

Emma Lennox, a Queen’s Careers Consultant who specialises in improving the employability of international students said: “We look forward to future opportunities and initiatives we can share with Queen’s students who are interested in working in China.”

The organisation works closely with the UK government, including The UK Department for International Trade; UK Visa and Immigration and the British Council  to support British business in the China market.

Queen’s Msc Business Management student David Keenan spent a summer in Shanghai on a Generation UK-China Internship.

He says: “Working in China was surreal! I got the opportunity to meet so many new people, attend business seminars throughout Shanghai, and had a great night life! One of the highlights of working in China was being invited to an exclusive Business Seminar with Citibank in their Shanghai headquarters. Working in Shanghai and gaining international experience in business and marketing was much more than what I expected! I worked as a business intern for a start-up company called Tea Plays in the French Concession of Shanghai.”
