This workshop is for International students, particularly those for whom English is not a first language, can face significant problems in acquiring the skills of Academic writing in a UK university. 

This series of workshops has been designed specifically for our international students who do not have English as a first language and consists of five half day sessions that address the following important areas: (1) Critical thinking and writing; (2) Accuracy in English; (3) Conventions of academic English: (4) Editing and proof-reading your work; (5) Plagiarism: what it is and how to avoid it.

All workshops take a communicative and interactive approach to learning: pair and group work is encouraged. Handouts are provided for students taking part.

The fourth session of this series is Editing and proofreading your work.
By the end of the workshop, students will be aware of the skills needed for effective revision of their texts. These include editing for consistency (tense, voice, style); citation; spelling; grammar, and self-evaluation. Practice materials are included.
