Assistant Editor of The Conversation, Laura Hood will visit Queen’s University on Monday 18 February to host a female only staff workshop.

Aimed at increasing the number of female writers on The Conversation website, and in the media in general, the workshop is an excellent opportunity to learn how to get your ideas to the wider public.

The session will begin with an overview of The Conversation; what it is, its aims and objectives, and why you should write for it. It will then cover how to write; tips on style, tone and structure, and finding the news value.

There will be a demonstration of The Conversation’s writer’s portal and how the editors work with potential writers.

Finally there will be exercises and the chance to develop your own article.

A How to Prepare PDF will be issued to attendees helping you to make the best use of the workshop.
