Developing students skills
We are working in partnership with Schools across the University to roll out our Future-Ready Skills course with tailored content for each School. We are planning to make it available to students in all schools from September 2023.
The course aims to support students to develop the personal and professional skills that will support them both at Queen’s and beyond.
It is designed to encourage students to adopt a growth mindset and has a strong focus on initiative, innovation and creativity.
This course is for undergraduate students only.
Postgraduate students can access support from the Graduate School.

The Course is self-directed and delivered through Canvas, the University’s virtual learning platform.
It is a zero CATS module (Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme), students’ participation in the programme is recognised through the award of a Future-Ready Skills Certificate.

To achieve the Certificate, students must:
- Reflect on their development of the future ready skills and on their own skills gaps.
- Compose answers to common interview questions that demonstrate their competence in the skills.
- Create a career plan, a CV and undertake a mock video interview.

The Future-Ready Skills Course is designed around the Future-Ready Skills which are aligned to Pearson’s Future of Skills, the OECD Learning Compass 2030 and Kingston University’s Future Skills research.
They are:
- Effective Learning
- Digital Literacy
- Social and Cultural Awareness
